Easy Wasn't It?
Well of course it was HOMELAND - however did you guess it was season 2!
Our marine turned terrorist turned double agent CIA helper! Brody of course.....
I have to admit I do miss him in homeland - I am actually watching season 5 now and am not fooling myself that he might make another cameo visit! I think I watch it in honour of Nicholas Brody! LOL
So season 2 of Homeland which was my favourite season of all of the ones Damian was in! Aside from that one episode in season 4 where he was in it as a hallucination (loved that scene)
this season had us wondering if Brody was going to go through with killing vice president walden to save the love of his life Carrie - or would he work it all out with Jessica - it was griping in every sense of the word! Can watch it over and over again and not get bored of it.

Friendship
The word friendship has so many meanings - but true friendship is something someone is blessed with, something you can spend a life time looking for and then suddenly you click with someone and a beautiful friendship is formed.
Damian Lewis has played so many wonderful, weird and bad ass characters in his career, yet as many as I can recall he has mostly always had a best friend. Lets take a look......
Homeland - Brody and Mike, a friendship of two marines who stuck together in war, and a friend who lost his best friend or so he thought, however although we watch homeland and think of the Mike and Brody friendship I always thought that Carrie was really his best friend, she was the one person he could talk to, rely on and laugh with.
Life - Officer Stark and Charlie Crews, or is it Ted or even Detective Dani Rees? So many friends new and old - a hard one for Charlie, he had his partner Officer Stark before he went to jail and who at one point thought he was guilty, his new friend Dani Reese his new partner when he was set free, although that was more of a love hate friendship and then of course Ted Early - his cellmate and now house mate and clearly a best mate!
Wolf Hall - Henry and Thomas Cromwell - When we think of Henry the 8th I could never imagine him with a bestie! or even someone who he could class as a friend but when watching the brilliant Wolf Hall. The relationship between Crowell (Mark Rilance) and Henry (Damian Lewis) on and off set you could see the friendship.
The Baker - In The Baker Milo goes from not having any friends at all to having a village full of them. This is one of my favourite films, so light hearted and a special place in my heart because of what I do for a living. Milo ends up in a village in wales, with lots of good friends with one in particular called Rhiannon (played by Kate Ashfield)
Friends & Crocodiles - A strange but wonderful film, Rich Paul Reynolds has his fill of friends in this film, but are most people his friend because of his huge wealth and power? This films spans 20 years of the life of Paul Reynolds and the one friend who loves him dearly, Lizzie, at one point you will think they should fall in love but they never do, however they do love each other. Its a wonderful friendship with love and tears.
Dreamcatcher - Damian plays a character called Jonesy. The film is taken from the Steven King novel. A group of friends go on a camping trip only to discover that the town they are in is taken over by aliens. There is a come together of friendship in this film - old and new!
The Forsyte Saga - Soames, what can we say about this character, who really most people dislike or are scared of - but when i watched it I realised that his only friend was his daughter Fleur, people wanted to be friends with him, but everyone was at arms length and he never ever got close. Irenne would be who he would have probably classed as his best friend - but I would say that the one person who he loved and would do anything for is his daughter.
The list is endless but it goes to show that everyone needs a friend everyone should have a friend. So take a moment and think to yourself now - who is your best friend? you may have more than one, now take a moment and drop them a text or give them a ring and tell them "thank you" for being a good friend.
Aquascutum and their story
established in 1851, Aquascutum was founded by tailor and entrepreneur, John Emary. The first store opened in Regent Street, selling high quality tailoring for Men and Women, after the success of producing the first waterproof wool in 1853 he renamed the company to Aquascutum which translates in Latin to “Watershield”.
In 1901 the store relocated to 100 Regent Street, the heart of London. Coats for officers in the war (1853–1856) were made from Aquascutum’s waterproof fabric, as were the trench coats worn by soldiers of all ranks in both world war 1 and 2.
1900 brought women’s wear to the store, where they sold waterproof coats and capes as worn by the suffragettes.
Aquascutum was family owned until 1990, when it was purchased by a Japanese textile conglomerate company and, then, by Jaeger in September 2009. It is now the property of YGM Trading, a Chinese fashion retailer, since April 2012.

EB Awareness Week
This weeks sees EB Awareness week. And to celebrate Sohana's Pride of Britain award and to mark the beginning of EB Week - The Sohana Research Fund put on a fabulous fun day on Sunday in Camden which myself and my two daughters had the pleasure in attending. It was a delight to meet Sohanas Mother Sharmilla and of course Sohana too, along with many other children who suffer with this terribly painful skin condition. EB Stands for (and I still have problems saying it) Epidermolysis Bullosa. EB can only be described as extremely sore burns that don't heal and there are over 8000 adults and children that suffer with this condition in the UK -
The Fun Day was held in a North London hotel and had a halloween theme to it - my girls loved making halloween decorations and we have lots now to use at our party on Saturday so thanks so much to Sharmilla for the wonderful time we all had. It was a delight to see such happy children running around, making and creating some fantastic halloween things with the help of Sharky and George who create wonderful children parties! On the way home on the train my older daughter Grace who is 11, said that she loved making the pot of slime! well of course she would because it makes a very rude noise too LOL.......
The Sohana Research fund is a charity that are looking to find a cure for EB at the moment there is no cure but we are hopeful that one day they will find one and you can help NOW
I am sure many of you have seen the Tongue Twister Challenge that Damian Lewis has done and many other celebrities and of course my little Dani too - you can have fun and help this amazing charity - go to www.sohanaresearchfund.org and follow Sohana's Tongue Twister Challenge
Who Do U think U R??
So this weeks quiz is an easy one I know - But this Character is so popular such a great one and someone I personally miss! He's not coming back any time soon but he will always live in our hearts!
If you need some help you can log on to www.damian-lewis.com and view the gallery but I don't think many of you will need much help - but check out the website for lots and lots of great pics!
good luck and the answer will be back here on Friday!

And The answer is.....
Of course - its Romeo & Juliet 2013
Romeo & Juliet is a 2013 British-Italian-Swiss romantic drama film adaptation of William Shakespeare's romantic tragedy of the same name directed by Carlo Carlei. The film opened in the United Kingdom and the United States on 11 October 2013. This film uses the traditional setting of Renaissance Verona, but, unlike previous major film adaptations, this film only follows the
plot and uses only some of the dialogue as written by Shakespeare. This
has led to a controversy, with several critics denouncing the film's
advertising as misleading, and losing the essence of the play.
Damian Lewis plays Lord Capulet - it is a beautiful film well worth watching and even though Mr Lewis sports and odd short back and sides haircut - but we forgive him don't we lol

So Do you Know Damian?
So Wednesdays photo quiz was from the 2005 film Chromophobia! Damian Lewis plays the very wealthy Marcus Aylesbury, married to Iona Aylesbury (Kristin Scott Thomas). Along with a whole host of famous faces - Penelope Cruz, Ralph Fiennes, Rhys Ifans, Ian Holm and Ben Chaplin.
Chromophobia takes a look at several people and relationships.
Some of these people are very wealthy and have become so obsessed with
their wealth and material objects they are very detached from more
important things in life. The things they choose to reject in their
pursuit for the finer things in life include friendship, their children,
love and integrity. At one point or another in the movie, each
character begins to realize and then face their problems and in a sense
their lives come crashing down. The characters then begin to see if they
can get their lives back and carry on with a new look.
Damian Lewis the audio book reader part two
He has the
rare ability to create a world for the listener and it would be too easy to say
that exactly
should be
his job as an actor, no not at all not every actor who reads a book is gifted to create a story. As an
actor you have normally much more to show than a voice.
It’s all
about the package isn’t it?!
A brilliant
actor like Damian Lewis has a wide range of feelings and emotions to present
and often he transport so much by doing so little like raising an eyebrow or
just looking at someone and the audience knows within seconds what’s going on
in this man he plays.
Reading is
the same the only difference and we talk about a big difference here is the
fact that you need to transport the same feelings and emotions but only with
your voice.
Yes Damian
has a great voice and yes as a woman I find his voice quite sexy and
interesting.
Its kind of
husky and briskly and special so I think he is perfect to read an audio book
but again a
Fantastic
voice is just half the fun but Damian has the ability to transform words into
creativity.
He has such
a wide range of different tones and accents to bring every single character in
the book to live and with a dash of humor and a bit of his own inspiration, he
creates a world for the listener
and with
this it’s so much more than just reading a book….
I will tell
you about my favourite audio books with him….soon here on DFI

Damian Lewis the audio book reader part one
One reason
I am a Lewis fan is probably his versatility and the fact he try on everything.
He plays
character so far from himself that I sometimes think Brody Soames or Teach
didn’t
Even look
like Damian Lewis and did you ever notice that Charlie Crews walks differently
from
Brody and
Keane walks in great pressure and anxiety??
That’s
acting…he gives every character a life a face and yes a way to walk that
fascinates me.
Bur besides
acting and being a brilliant host on HIGNFY where he shows the most British
skill and that’s humor and spice the show with wit and cleverness I’m still
convinced that one day he will be a director or an acting teacher. I really see
him in both “roles” and I can rely on my feelings…J
But
actually I was about to write about something different….
Damian
Lewis the audio book reader!!
I love audio books from the start of it I was
in love with audio books and its readers because
Its not
easy to transform a book into a story for the ears.
I am a big
fan of audio books since they became popular for over two decades, some people
Say it’s
the lazy way of book reading but I disagree it’s another way to read a way that
needs
your
fantasy and thinking even more because send your thoughts on a travel together
with the author and the reader.
You close
your eyes and wherever you are the bond between author reader and listener is
there and
you explore
the book on a different level.
But with so
many books and readers the person who buy and listen to audio books is spoiled
and I am no exception. I choose the audio books carefully and look who’s
reading because its not easy to grab attention.
We have
wonderful readers here in Germany and I spend way too much money for audio
books, when other women go and buy shoes I join them only that I stop a shop
earlier at the mall to
spend hours
in a book shop but have to confess that I take amazon as an option its nothing
we should do regularly because it makes it harder for my little book shop but
with a smartphone
in your
hands the world became smaller doesn’t it.
Anyway
audio books might be not an option for everyone but if you haven’t try it yet
start with one of the best readers I can recommend…Damian Lewis
As I said
above audio books and its reading is in my opinion not an easy thing to do
because you have to transport words feelings and emotions as well as the skill
to bring different characters to live without being seen.
I think
during the last twenty years I have heard hundreds of audio books for private
reasons as well as in the library but Damian Lewis is for sure among my top
five readers and he is quite on top of the ranking.

It's all about TV
think it’s quite incredible how many shows I have watched over the years. Maybe I am a TV, box set addict, maybe I just love a good show to get into, and wow there are so many!! But it has occurred to me over the years of being a fan of Damian, just how many actors and actresses from other great shows have appeared with him. Thankfully I have a wonderful app called IMBD on my phone, the many times I have sat with my husband watching something and said to him “I know that face, they have been in something with Damian” so I do a quick search and my question is answered.
The numerous shows I have watched with cross over characters is quite astounding just take a look.
The Walking Dead – Stared, Michal Cudlitz (Sgt Abraham) who played Mark Rolls in Life and also Sgt Denver in Band of Brothers
Breaking Bad – Stared Jonathan Banks (Mike Eharmantraut) who played Nathan Grey in Life
New Girl – Stars Max Greenfield (Shmidt) Who played Bradley Sloane in Life
Gotham – Stars Morena Baccarin (Dr Leslie Thompkins) who played Jessica Brody in Homeland
Friends – Stars David Shwimmer (Ross) who played Herbert Sobel in Band of Brothers
24 – Stars Sarah Clarke (Nina Myers) who played Mary Ann Farmer in Life
Blue Bloods – Stars Donnie Walberg (Detective Regan) who played Carwood in Band of Brothers and Duddits in Dream Catcher
My Family – Robert Lindsay (Ben Harper) who played William Sneath in Friends & Crocodiles
Mad Dogs – Ben Chaplin (Alvo) who played Trent in Chromophobia
Peaky Blinders – Tom Hardy (Alfie Solomons) Played Jack in Colditz
There are so many more the list is endless, and so many faces pop up from characters in Life!
Keep watching and download IMBD – I think its pretty amazing when you think about how many people have worked alongside Damian – that is just a small list but there are hundreds of actors and actresses who have stared in the same show!
And now with Billions on the horizon we can now add the following
How I met your mother – Malin Akerman (Movie Stella) who plays Lara Axelrod
Romeo & Juliet – Paul Giamatti (Friar Lawrence) who plays Chuck Rhoades
Suits – David Costablle (Daniel Hardman) who plays Mike
Sons of Anarchy (Tara) & Mad Men (Rachel) - ( Mggie Siff ) who plays Wendy Rhodes
This just goes to show one thing! I CLEARLY WATCH FAR TOO MUCH TV

Damian interview extracts….
When Damian
Lewis was in his second year of drama-school, he and two fellow-students took
the boat to Amsterdam. Lewis (laughing): "Guess what we did there ... I
still remember on the way over there we were sitting all three on deck in the
middle of the night gazing at the stars and we shouted in a romantic way that
we were the new generation of actors and we were going to change everything,
stuff like that. I would like to say that that really happened, but I think it
didn't quite go that way. ..."
He is
self-confident, sexy and certainly not afraid of Hollywood but doesn't want to
be "sold as the newest sportscar!" He refused a nice role in Black
Hawk Down in favour of The Forsyte Saga.
For an
actor it is always fun to play the bad guy. Was this also the case?
"Soames has something petty and ugly, something I could only shake of with
some alcohol at the end of the day. But I didn't hate him, if I did I couldn't
have played him. In the book he is a complex personality; in the BBC-series
from 1967 he was evil and Irene was only the victim. We wanted to show some
more sides to him. Even if no one likes Soames -- he is a bastard, a racist, a
sexist, a snob -- then still you should be able to understand his obsession for
that woman and how it destroys his life."

Billions main cast...
The main
cast is made of brilliance with Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti
as the main
characters and with Maggie Siff and Malin Ackerman as their
leading
Ladies completing the cast in this new Showtime series.
As Damian
Lewis recently said in an Golderby interview its so enjoyable
to work
with such great actors and for us as fansite its very enjoyable to
watch and
witness all those wonderful projects and we are very excited for Billions.
Billions
seems timely and on the pulse of time with people asking and worrying
about their
money and about the question how trustful moneymakers are these days…
so with
Billions Showtimes starts a new contemporary and probably provocative
series with
an excellent cast.
Paul
Giamatti as the clever and perhaps aggressive US Attorney Chuck Rhodes goes
after
ambitious Hedge Fund King Bobby Axelrod and with Damian Lewis in this role
a cat and
mouse game is on a very high level!!
With Maggie
Siff as Wendy Rhoades there is another high acting caliber in the show
and Wendy
seems an interesting female character with working as a coach
with a psychological background and clients in
the world of high finance.
Malin
Ackerman completes the two couples match as Lara Axelrod the wife of Bobby
And even
she comes from a lower background as a former nurse Miss Ackerman recently
described
her role as a “ strong female character and a tough cookie”
Billions
and especially the brilliant cast and crew in front and behind the camera
promise to
be a very interesting and timely series with high quality scripts and top
actors!

Bill from my view
What a fantastic film...... is what you would expect a 12 year old to say when they have watched Bill, the new film from the cast of horrible histories, but no this statement is coming from the mouths of not one but two 42 year old women.
On Friday 23rd September my best friend Andee (the ginger one) and I decided to ditch the shops and coffee houses we usually peruse on a Friday morning and hit the Vue cinema in Watford, as we walked into the empty theatre at 11.30 in the morning we purchased our two adult tickets to see the children film Bill, at first the guy selling the tickets thought we were joking but as we ordered our popcorn and bag of sweets, we both looked round and realised that we were the only people not only seeing the film but in the entire cinema.
We took our seats, which to be honest could have been any seat in the whole cinema, and waited to see the few minutes of Damian, playing Sir Richard Hawkins. I don't want to spoil it for you as I think Damian's character is fantastic (ok maybe a little bias) but his character resembled that of King Henry in Wolf Hall - some may disagree but wait till you see it, there is a scene where he shouts at King Philip of Spain that actually sent a shiver through me. The film itself is great full of humour and one liner jokes, its good for parents that have to sit through it and kids learn something too - I think Helen Mccory Plays a fantastic Queen Elizabeth and I totally respect her for the vile costume and facial hair and dry skin her character had to endure, its great that two great actors can laugh at themselves and I feel it was an incredibly enjoyable film to make and be part of.
One of the most hilarious scenes was the outtakes at the end where Sir Richard Hawkins goes from reminding me of Henry to more Brody in captivity!
Go see this film is my advice its well worth the laugh......

Quiz Wednesday Answer
So did you get it right? It was the 2011 TV film Stolen, DCI Anthony Carter
Anthony works in the Human Trafficking Unit, battling to make a difference to the plight of exploited children being smuggled into the UK and from there, to anywhere and to any fate.
Anthony has a wall of snapshots in his office of unknown children, children without passports, without identity, without family, without hope, who have been smuggled into this country to be enslaved and exploited: Rosemary 11, is a terrorised young girl from West Africa, who thought she was coming to England to be educated. She is sold as a house servant; Kim Pak, 15, is a gardener in a Vietnamese cannabis house, imprisoned in a semi in suburbia; Georgie, 14, from the Ukraine, is put to work in the food industry, making sandwiches.
If Anthony could save just one of those faces on his wall, it would be worth it.
(written source - dalian-lewis.com)

I watched Stolen about a year ago and thought it was fantastic, it was just before Damian Lewis took on his role as Nicholas Brody, I bet when he was filming stolen he had no idea how his life would change over the next 4 years! EMMY, OBE and so many fantastic projects!
Queen of the Desert
Queen of
the Desert
“My Dear ,
I want to see you but that of course can’t be until God pleases”
With Queen
of the Desert German director Werner Herzog brings out a new major movie and
for sure
again an epic film. Academy nominee
Werner Herzog is one of the best directors ever and has created many wonderful
and special movies and we eagerly awaiting QOTD with Award winning actors
Nicole Kidman and Damian Lewis as well as James Franco and Robert Pattinson
Queen of the
Desert is the story of Gertrude Bell an English writer, traveler and
archaeologist
who had
great contacts and became highly influential she was often recalled as the
female
Laurence of
Aribia.
The film
also reflects her love life as well and Gertrude Bell had an affair with a
married man
Charles
Doughty-Whiley!
Colonel
Charles Doughty-Whiley was a man of high reputation who became besotted with
Bell
But was
married and felt unable to leave his wife for Gertrude and was captured in his
unhappy
marriage and his responsibilities. Bell and Doughty-Whiley exchanged letters
about their
feelings and you can read them in “Gertrude Bell The Arabian Diaries”
in April
1915 he lead soldiers on a very dangerous mission in Gallipoli and a Turkish
bullet
killed him!
Fellow soldiers noticed in surprise he didn’t had a weapon or anything else
with him.
Was it the
unconsumed love to Gertrude Bell who forced him to do that….who knows.
The film
premiered earlier this year at the Berlin Film Festival and even Damian has a
supporting
role, he
earned a lot of praises for his performance of Charles Doughty-Whiley a man
captured
in his
marriage and his reputation but full of heartfelt love for Gertrude Bell.
