Emma on Selfies...

As a kid born in the 70's and growing up in the 80's, a family or a group of friends would decide to have a photograph and would normally have one member of the group missing as they would be the person behind the camera.  If not then back then there was the dreaded timer, you would set up your camera on a tripod and everyone gather in close, you would press the timer and run over to the group and just as you got there the flash would go, and the photo would be the back of your head!  Only last week when going through a big box of photos in my attic I found a few very dated snaps where it had caught the back of one of my parents heads. Nowadays you don't need to worry, timers on cameras are far more advanced and of course now we are all too familiar with "The Selfie"  How did it begin, where did it begin, but boy has the selfie taken over from normal group photos.  

I think the best all time selfie that will go down in selfie history was that at the Oscars in 2014 featuring, Ellen, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, Jared Leto,  LupitaNyong'o and Channing Tatum.  This reached the highest record for the most re tweets on twitter, a massive 750,000 in the first 45 minutes of it being tweeted.  

What they really needed was a selfie stick.....! a What??? yes a selfie stick - a genus piece of equipment that is about £6 on Amazon, it is exactly what it says... You clip your iPhone or smart phone into the grasp and it's longer than arms length to get the full view of your entire group. Imagine how many more people they could have got in the photo if they would have used one of them.

So the selfie, there are so many different types of selfie, on a girls night out you will see a pouting selfie, a group of girls selfie, swearing selfie, the I am toooooo cool selfie, and one of my favorites the dogs selfie! see below.  

However the best selfie for me! has got to be our Damian Lewis doing the King Henry Selfie... I wonder if Henry the 8th would have had an iPhone back then would he have done a selfie with all 6 of his wives!!!!
