The highly anticipated miniseries based on the books of
Hilary Mantel
starts today in the UK
and soon after on PBS.
The reviews already saying it could be the best period drama
ever made
and with Mark Rylance and Damian Lewis as leading actors it
will be for sure a great event.
And I personally agree with Wolf Hall producer Colin
Callender who said:
“I think it was a brilliant move on the part of Damian Lewis
to go from Homeland into
a role that’s completely different “
I agree and it shows on more time the enormous range and
variety Damian Lewis has
and we can’t wait to see a charismatic Henry VIII and
Cromwell on our screens but I also
look forward to see the wonderful Claire Foy and Mark Gatiss
and I am sure they will
be as great as ever.
The Times called the series: “Absorbing, Gripping and
unmissable ”
The Telegraph says: “Wolf Hall shows Damian Lewis as a
mercurial and charismatic Henry
Daily Mail wrote last week:
“When the King speaks, viewers with of a nervous disposition
should take cover;
He is a bully and a megalomaniac …a terrifying combination.
This is not the fat caricature familiar from other
productions but a convincing King
And when Lewis is on screen he commands our total
attention!!”
“Damian Lewis is unlikely any other actors who played the
King
He is athletic, the youthful Henry before his weight
ballooned but also powerful
and with imposing personality. When he speaks he leans in to
people and snarls quietly
….like a Wolf
We can’t wait and personally I am sure it will be another
glorious piece in Lewis’s career
and six finest hours of television
Wolf Hall starts today 9 pm on BBC2 and on 5th
April on PBS
