our whirlwind trip...a first post
We will present you a fully and very detailed report from our London time
By the end of June when we both fully return to our normal Blog work.
You will see our pictures from London and we will both let you know about
the play and how we celebrated our friendships anniversary as well as
our very last visit to see AB in June….our final AB week starts soon after…stay tuned!!
But for now I really need to tell you how amazingly great this play is…
I was curious and excited especially after I had the chance to interact with fans
and audience so much over the past weeks a thing I love to do and should
say it again here: you are all so great and we thank you so much for your comments and replies!!
@DamianLewisCom and @emsjabb are always happy about tweets and comments.
So I was keen to see it myself and after six years of waiting to see Damian back on stage
I couldn’t wait to sit in my seat watching the play…
I told you about Damian on stage and my opinion about more than once and I was sure to see
some fantastic acting and I know he shows so different skills on stage.
I guess most people who watched him on screen over the years noticed that he can
Express so much with very little gestures or like we said as we began here:
The raising eyebrow trick which only means he is amazing in his ability to
shows us his inner feelings by let us into his soul and mind but he never needs
an opera like attitude or loud words…
on stage his presence is overwhelming, his delivery absolutely pointed and
I witnessed it more than once that people holding their breath simply because
His presence on stage captures you completely.
I was sure long before Homeland that Damian Lewis is able to play almost every role and he
has a wide range of skills and abilities but I love to be surprised by him over and over again.
And after six weeks of Wolf Hall and the fact that he gave us an unseen Henry I was curious about his
Teach and even if I am sounding like a twelve year old on Facebook the phrase OMG is exactly
what I thought shortly after the play and even now four days after my return the play hasn’t
left me yet and I still think about the play ad its characters and the characters.
All three actors are very good and making you speechless more than once but Damian
nails it , Damian Lewis showing a masterclass in stage acting and I say stage acting very
consciously because we know he shows masterclass acting on screen and I have seen him on stage
before but this time I was hardly able to breath and I was completely captured in the situation
on stage!!
I have seen a lot of different plays in London over the years and Mamet isn’t for everybody
It seems to me that you either love it or hate it but I love it and can’t wait to see it one
more time in June because I really want to absorb every single moment and every move and
sentence in this amazing play.
Damian’s perfect comedic timing and the shallowness of his character is a joy to watch but
this is a bitter sweet comedy because you quick get the impression Teach is by far not
that clever and on a certain moment his empty life will almost move you to tears but
I will definitely not writing in detail here not before the play ends….won’t spoil it
For others but we will post a review once we are back from London in June!!
But I guarantee you Damian Lewis proves again he is able to catch every character
and plays and develops it to perfection!!

American Buffalo
American Buffalo….
It’s done!!
I am prepared and ready and nervous as usual when I’m on the way to the airport.
Alright I will be on my way Wednesday but I am already nervous.
We will see American Buffalo and yes I am very excited and I know we going to see a high class
performance because I was lucky enough to see Damian Lewis on stage before.
And I am sure I will be in love with John Goodman the moment he appears on stage and Tom Sturridge is a real young talent I am sure Damian will dominate the stage
(I should mention that I writing this long before the play is on in fact its April the first, it’s after midnight already and I can’t sleep so I do some blog work but I can’t use reviews or critics its my opinion only)
Damian dominated both plays he did the last years and he put an energy in his performance that you
almost needed seat belts!!
Especially during the Misanthrope run which I was crazy enough to see five times in a row!!
I am so much more reduced this time with only three performances in two months….well yes
Emma kept me from booking more….it would be ridiculous to go more often…and way too expensive lol
Back to the facts:
American Buffalo and his main character Walter “Teach “Cole has a special presence and is the active part of the three guys, he is also the most aggressive one of the group.
Teach gives the impression he knows what’s going on. But I doubt he is that clever.
As Damian told earlier in the first interview clip for American Buffalo;
These three men want to be part of the American dream but they’re not!!
And I agree it’s surely a total different experience from the life Damian and the director Daniel Evans live.
And that might be an enormous challenge but I witnessed Damian Lewis on stage before and I know he is an exceptional stage actor.
and to be different in your role you have to play…well like Damian said once:
“That would be acting”
It’s almost six years by now that I have seen Damian on stage and the last time it was at the comedy theatre in London.
The Misanthrope.
So much happened ever since….
The whole Homeland hype started a year later and by now Damian is even more a well-known well respected actor with a reputation of a versatile and brilliant performer…known around the world.
Damian Lewis brings an energy on stage that I have never seen before and he has an enormous presence that mixed with his acting skills makes the night in the theatre unforgettable.
So yes I expect a full blooded performance with energy and aggressive presence because
Teach is the aggressive part of the crew!!
Frankly I cannot wait to see him on stage and it’s so great he brings two other brilliant actors with him
Best of Luck guys….and break a leg

The Tate modern
Tate Modern is London's most visited and innovative gallery - housed in a former power station, the space itself is as much as an attraction as its collections and exhibitions.
The journey there can be an adventure in itself: take the tube to Blackfriars, cross the river on the 'Blade of Light' Millennium Bridge and admire the startling contrast between historic St Paul's Cathedral and this uber modern art gallery.
The interior is a glorious, unpretentious playground of modern art, as appealing to children and amateurs as it is to adults and art experts. Permanent collections includes works by Bacon, Matisse, Rothko and Andy Warhol as well as the best of contemporary British art.

The National Portrait Gallery is very
special and unique in London
In the Portrait Gallery the focus is not on
the artists and painters the focus id on
The subject in the picture or sculpture
because in the Portrait Gallery you will see
The Who is who in Britain.
When you start inn second floor you will
see the Tudor Gallery with a great Holbein painting of
Henry VIII and great people like
Shakespeare and Elisabeth I.
Authors and writers like the Bronte sisters
and Mary Shelley are pictured there and back in first floor
You will discover pictures from Oscar Wilde
and Churchill as well as Virginia Woolf and her sister
Vanessa Bell.
Fresh and modern are the pictures and
photographs from Paul McCartney the late Princess Diana
and the Prince of Wales. Andy Warhol
portrayed for the Gallery Elisabeth Taylor and Her Majesty
Queen Elisabeth II.
Last year you could even see a wonderful
picture of Damian Lewis there…a fact his fans were
Probably very proud ofJ
The National Portrait Gallery is a great
museum because it’s different and another must see
And as well as The National Gallery it’s
free and should be on your list

Henry..oh Henry
Henry…oh
Henry
Six weeks
of pure perfection how could I possibly review such a thing….but I can at least
try
As many
viewers I was keen to see Wolf Hall and I thought it might be difficult to
deliver
After all
those weeks of Cromwell and Henry it’s almost hard to let them go….
I was so
keen to discover Damian Lewis`s way to play Henry because I was absolutely
sure it
would be different to others after seven years of being a fan I learned Damian
does things
always a bit different and in his own style.
Henry on tv
or big screen was mostly a lot of screaming and all about a loud performance
A thing we
normally don’t get if Damian Lewis takes on a role so I was wondering how he
would
manage it to be a king.
And yes of
course he gave us everything and again something new to explore.
Wolf Hall
was an absolute pleasure to watch not only because of the outstanding
performance
Of Mark
Rylance or my secret highlight Anton Lesser no every single performance in this
series was
breath-taking
from Jonathan Pierce to Claire Foy and Bernard Hill !!
But Wolf
Hall also gave us another milestone in Damian Lewis`s career!!
He gave us
a Henry we hadn’t seen before and let’s face it that was not what I expected
but
hoped forJ
I as most
of us had seen some “Henry`s “before and I looked forward to see his but I was
slightly
worried
because as Damian said himself:” Henry is a brand…like Coca Cola”
Well I
probably couldn’t come up with a better phrase so yes the King is an own brand
and
more famous
than anybody else in British history so I suppose everyone has an opinion about
Henry
and with
such a popular character it seemed a risk to play him…well as Selene and I
joking some time
my middle
name is worry lol but anyway I was keen and worried to see his Henry the same
time.
And wow he surprised
me once more…
His
performance blew me away and I was proud to be a fan of such an actor, yes he
showed us a
New side of
Henry and I almost felt understanding for him and his needs.
He wanted
to have a woman by his side and for him a male heir was essential and
I kind of
understand it and him although some of his actions were cruel and like a
monstrous child
And that’s
the fact I was most impressed of.
Damian
Lewis and the new side of his acting. I love him normally for the fact that he
is able to transport a feeling simple by raising his eyebrow, he is able to
express with a glance more
than some
others with a whole speech and we got to see that in Wolf Hall but we saw more
much more….
Henry was
like a big child a big Wolf who expressed every thought or idea completely on
his face
and I am
ready to bow!!
I was so
very impressed by his performance and yes it’s not the first time I write that
here but
It’s a fan
blog lol but really it was a new side of him and I enjoyed every bit of it, his
performance
Convinced
critics and audience each week and yes he was so good in every single episode
but
loved the
enormous Henry climax in episode five and I didn’t even want to talk about his
smile…..in
the last episode….if this didn’t give you goose bumps….
I am happy
to thank the whole Wolf Hall cast for an outstanding series and one of the best
things I have ever seen!!

The National Gallery
The National Gallery is visible in its full glory in the heart of the pedestrianised Trafalgar Square
. Its permanent collection houses some of the world’s most important paintings from as far back as the 13th century.
Gaze upon the works of greats such as Titian, da Vinci, Rembrandt, Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, Raphael and Van Gogh. Built in 1832-1833, in an attempt to outshine Paris’s Louvre, it aspires to make art accessible to all with free admission, a central location and extended opening hours.
The important thing in planning your visit is not to try and see everything. You could spend a week wandering through its hallowed halls, and still miss many of the greatest works of European art.

Mrs.Axelrod talks....:-)
the wonderful Malin Akerman talks about her strong woman role in the upcoming Showtime series Billions opposite Damian Lewis...
Malin Ackerman:
I’ll be relocating to New York from June to December for a new Showtime series that just got picked up called Billions. I play Damian Lewis’ wife, and it’s incredible. It also stars Paul Giamatti. I like to call it a mix of House of Cards meets Wolf of Wall Street. It’s amazing. My character is a self-made woman, and her husband is a billionaire and has tons of money. She comes from quite the background, and she’s a tough cookie. You don’t mess with her. She has built quite a life [with her husband], and she’s not afraid to threaten you if she needs to. She’s also really lovely and a strong female character.

Damian Lewis...
Mail on Sunday is sure:
“Damian Lewis steals the show”
Express.co.uk thinks:
“Lewis is magnificent”
and Guardian/Observer Culture is confident:
“Damian Lewis is a real revelation”
Teach is the driver of the play and Lewis milks him for all he’s worth
Damian Lewis shows acting masterclass”
“incredible performances”
“Damian Lewis has bravura”
“Standing ovations are well deserved”
“Damian Lewis is outstanding”
“First class acting”
“What a great play”
“a superb cast being superb”
“Lewis Goodman and Sturridge are electric together”
Damian Lewis stole the show. Oozing seventies sleaze with a flared burgundy suit, handlebar ‘tache and sideburns, he masters the gift of the gab. As the charismatic but usurping Teach he had not just the characters but the audience eating out his hand. And for all the flashiness, Lewis also reveals underlying insecurities. All the insidious self-promotion and confidence in talking down others is offset by a deep discontentment, conveyed in a rare moment of wordlessness and flash of frenzied action.
Damian Lewis has all the swagger and stage presence that you imagine. His natural comic tendencies provide many of the nights laughs, and he’s enigmatic to watch.
“impeccable timing delivery from Damian Lewis”
“acting masterclass is an understatement”
“fantastic funny script with three amazing actors”
“Damian Lewis wrapped us around his little finger..great performance”
“fab performances and breathtaking set”
“American Buffalo is an amazing piece of theatre with three exceptional actors
Teach is the more showy role but Damian Lewis avoids the temptation for flashy, fast-talking virtuosity and instead excellently pins down the man’s neediness. Lewis paces the junk-shop as if it were his private terrain, trashes everyone he refers to and resorts to panic-stricken violence. But there is a key moment when Teach is asked to justify his lofty pronouncements on life and replies: “My life, Jim. And the way I’ve lived it.” At that point, Lewis gives us a terrifying glimpse of the character’s awareness of his own hollowness.

Sabrina thinks...
to admire someone is a bit like studying...
for me Damian Lewis means to get re-intouch with a language, meet great people
and reading more books and seing good films and tv shows....
I am more curious ever since.Damian broaden my mind, travel to see him on stage or sitting nail biting at times talks or in a preview..and waiting for the first time in my life two hours ahead
in queue..well actualy I was the one who created an own queue at times talks because there were no
advanced seats.I missed that experience as a teenager:-)
Damian Lewis and his work touches and provoke it makes you thinking different and I agree with him
actors can be a glue to society.
I feel that way.actors might not doctors or lawyers but they play an important part in our lifes and if they are good they bring us new perspectives.
Damian Lewis makes me happy and keeps my mind busy...I love it:-)
and now I am again getting ready for a new trip to see him and my Darling Emma and I am nervous and happy and it still feels like the first time :-)

Damian Lewis and the case of the missing redheads memory piece
There's Julianne Moore, Karen Elson, Lily Cole, Nicole Kidman … but
where are their male counterparts? Flame-haired Michael Hann meets the
photographer aiming to show redheaded men are sexy
Thomas Knights wants
you to think about action heroes. About James Bond, or the characters
Arnie gets to play. He wants you to think about romantic leads in
Hollywood movies, about the guy who gets the girl, about the film star
every man wants to be and every woman wants to be with. And then he
wants you to ask yourself this: how come those men are never ginger?
That's why he's spent the past couple of years photographing red-headed men – not tubby, acne-ridden men with greasy hair, but vivid and beautiful red-headed men, the kind who – were it not for their hair colour – would make any member of the mousey majority jealous. "It's in the public consciousness that ginger men aren't sexy and aren't strong," he tells me. "They are completely emasculated and desexualised in popular culture." And so with his exhibition Red Hot, featuring photographs of 50 men, he wants to do what many people would find either ridiculous or risible: he wants to make ginger men desirable.
If you think "gingerism" is really, well, a bit of a laugh, you're almost certainly not ginger, as Knights is and as I am. You weren't one of the red-headed kids injured by bullies at Wingfield Academy in Rotherham in October, when a group of students decided to celebrate "Kick a Ginger Day". You've never been violently attacked in drunken incidents simply because someone who'd overdone the beer didn't like the colour of your hair. At the most prosaic level, you've never had your hair colour used routinely as an all-purpose putdown, or heard random strangers shout "Ginger!" (always with hard Gs; apparently it's really funny when you pronounce it like that) as you walk down the street, minding your own business. Though I guess having red hair in public is pretty provocative.
"The main thing for me is the huge polarisation between the way our society perceives ginger men and ginger women," Knights says. "You can name successful redheaded women in Hollywood. But with men, once you've said Damian Lewis, you're stumped. There's got to be a reason for that, because genetically it should be equal. But it hasn't been allowed to happen. So I think the whole gingerism thing is a stealth form of acceptable racism that goes on in boardrooms, in authors' minds. Look at Harry Potter – the redheads are the poor, weak family, the buffoons. If Harry Potter had been ginger, that would have been a different story."
The idea for Red Hot came from the rising profile of Lewis, and from the continuing escapades of Prince Harry, whom Knights views as the epitome of the sexy ginger man – high-profile and a bit wild. He decided redheaded men were having their "moment". So he called up the leading model agencies, asking for subjects to photograph. "None of them had any ginger models," he says. "They had loads of redheaded women, but no male models – there wasn't a demand from the fashion industry."
In the absence of models, he had to appeal for subjects and go out in search of others. Greg Rutherford, the Olympic gold medal-winning long-jumper, was among them, and told Knights he's still known within sport as "the ginger athlete" not the "Olympic champion athlete".
"His girlfriend told me that when she started dating him, her friends got together and told her, 'We didn't know you were into gingers,'" Knights says. "And her friends were saying, 'Aren't you afraid you're going to have a ginger baby?' My best mate is dating an Irish guy with a ginger beard. I said, 'Genuinely, how would you feel if you had a ginger baby?' And she said, 'I'm not going to lie to you, I would be disappointed. Of course I'm going to love it, but I don't want a ginger baby.' This is at the heart of it – that women are ashamed to have a ginger baby.
He's heard stories from his subjects of the bullying they have suffered, of their attempts to render themselves un-ginger (as Knights himself did – he dyed his hair for 10 years before resigning himself to his natural colouring). "That really shouldn't have to happen in today's world. That's why I feel boys need their strong male role models. Back at school, if someone said to me, 'You fucking ginger,' I'd say, 'Yeah, I am, and I really hate it.' I agreed with them. I had no prid."
Not now – even though, irony of ironies, his hair has now darkened, and – as someone whose hair is bright enough to be used as a beacon on dark nights – I'd be hard pushed to describe him as a true ginger. But ginger intersectionality must be upheld, and after 50 minutes of Knights's determined proselytising on behalf of our kind, I'm ready to head out into the streets of central London and yell: "Say it loud! I'm ginger and I'm proud."
I don't, though. Someone would only shout back: "Fuck off, ginger."

London is what you make out of it.
London is the greatest city in the world according to Damian
Lewis and I agree
London is the greatest city but it’s not so romantic like
Paris and not friendly like Vienna
And not so relaxed like Amsterdam no London is loud busy and
doesn’t need you at all.
London is a diva and you can be extremely unhappy with a
diva….but..
No other place is so extremely fascinating like London.
London gives you a chance everything is possible in the
city.
London is hip, cool modern and traditional the same time.
London has the most interesting history with fascinating
places.
You can easily take a minute to relax in the countless but
beautiful parks
London has culture London has style and London has a special
charme
and all this will capture you the minute you arrive.
You can be in London a hundreds of times and you will
discover every time
something new and extraordinary fashion highlights museums
or a theatre
visit in the evening you will never ever be bored in
London!!
London is exhausting and you will probably think once in a
while:
“what I am doing here and why I am here at all?”
But London will never left you. You will always want to come
back.
London is amazing and has so much to give. I guarantee you a
great time
you will be changed afterwards because London touches heart
and soul.
I was never happier than I was in London and even it sounds a
bit
superficial but I need to go back there regularly otherwise
I start to feel unhappy and maybe
you will feel the same.
I am quite different in the city because I feel free and
strong and London
and its outstanding flair and offers change me every time a
bit more.
London taught me to be open minded, to have fun and to
explore myself
while strolling to the streets and feeling good and a bit
British too.
London is a Diva and being with a Diva can be difficult but
the variety
the love for modernity and tradition the style and the
culture the diva has to offer
will never left you….London is by far the greatest place you
can be….I would never
speak against Damian Lewis:-)
get ready for London you won’t regret it

Tate Modern
Tate Modern one of Damian Lewis's favourite museums is clearly one of our personal highlights too
don't miss out to visit this special museum while you are in London
