Last week, he expressed his 'huge surprise' at being awarded an OBE for his contribution to acting.

But by Sunday, he appeared to be settling into his titled role quite nicely as he stepped out with his wife Helen McCrory at the 60th London Evening Standard Theatre Awards.

The loved-up couple, who share two children, hugged as they made a glamorous arrival at the London Palladium in coordinated black attire.

Homeland star Damian cut a dapper figure in a black suit, as he stood beside his actress wife of seven years, who wowed in a glittering black gown with a semi-sheer top. 
 

After the ceremony, the couple stayed on for the after-party, where they mingled with a host of well-heeled guests, including fellow screen stars Tom Hiddleston and Dominic West.

Helen was nominated for the Natasha Richardson award for Best Actress for her role in Medea, but lost out to Gillian Anderson, who won acclaim for her turn as Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire.
